The Merritt Parkway was temporarily shut down on Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 19, after a three-car pile-up sparked a truck fire and sent two to the hospital, authorities said. Norwalk firefighters were called to the Merritt Parkway between northbound exits 38 to 40 for the multiple-car crash just after noon. Officials said one truck was fully engulfed in flames when responders arrived with two other cars sustaining damage in the blaze. Quick-Thinking Fire Chief Uses Fork-Lift To Save Danbury Business
A quick-thinking off-duty assistant fire chief saved a fire from happening in the loading dock of a Fairfield County business when a fire started in the engine of a pickup truck. The incident began around 7:46 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 27, when a 911 call was received by the Danbury Fire Department that a truck was on fire in the load dock area of Omaha Beef on Maple Avenue in Danbury, said James Gagliardo, communications director. Trailers Full Of 4,000 Pounds Of Bleach, Vegetables Catch Fire In CT
Four tractor-trailers packed full of bleach and vegetables were damaged by fire and one firefighter was taken to the hospital at an area truck stop. The fire began around 1:55 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 17, at the Pilot Travel Center on Old Gate Lane in Milford, said the Milford Fire Department.
