Perfection: Greenwich High Freshman Cross Country Team Finishes Dominant Season Of Big Wins The Greenwich High School boys freshman squad ran through their competition in every meet this year and capped off the regular season with a commanding win in the Hatters Freshman Championship. The event, held at scenic Tarrywile Park in Danbury, saw Greenwich crush the competition with a near-perfect score of 18, leaving rivals Staples High School and Trumbull far behind with 37 and 77 points, respectively. Highway Superintendent Retires After 44 Years With Fairfield County Town Where He Was Born A Fairfield County native who has worked for the public works department in the town he was born in for 44 years is calling it a career. New Canaan Public Works Highway Department Superintendent Mose Saccary recently retired. The department said Saccary was hired as a laborer for the Highway Department in April 1980 by Director of Public Works Lou Mareno and soon promoted to operator, with responsibility for the streets north of Turner Hill to the New York State line, west to Smith Ridge Road, and east to Valley Road. Fairfield Little League Team Headed To Tournament After Winning State Championship Twelve Fairfield County baseball players ages 13 and under won the state 50/70 Championship on Saturday, July 13, and are headed for the Little League Regional Tournament in Dover, Delaware.
