Teen Found Under Water After Being Swept Away By Long Island Sound Current A teen swimming with three of his friends was rescued after being overcome by the incoming tide in the South Benson/Ash Creek area of Long Island Sound near the Bridgeport/Fairfield border. The rescue took place around 6:08 p.m., Thursday, July 11, when the Fairfield Fire Department received a 911 call regarding the teen who failed to resurface after going underwater, said Fairfield Fire Lt. Robert Smith.
