A woman visiting Connecticut is feeling lucky after cashing in a winning CT Lottery ticket worth $50,000 this week.
On Wednesday, Sept. 15, Ariana Llanos Rojas, a Lake Worth, Florida resident, cashed in a winning "Super Cashword 22" ticket that was sold at the A&J Mini Mart on East Main Street in Stamford.
The following day, a second $50,000 CT Lottery ticket was cashed in as a Stamford resident saw the balls bounce his way in POWERBALL.

Here's How Many Are Still Without Power In Connecticut
Nearly 10,000 residents in Connecticut are still without power more than 24 hours after Tropical Depression Ida made its way through the region.
As of 3 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 2, 8,721 of Eversource’s 1.286 million Connecticut customers were still reporting outages, while United Illuminated was still working to repair 127 active outages that were impacting 509 of the company’s customers.

All but 9 Connecticut communities are at the highest risk level for COVID-19 infections, according to the most recently released data.
Waterbury has the highest incident rate in the state with 98.6 cases reported per 100,000 residents.
On Thursday, Dec. 3, Connecticut updated its weekly, town-by-town breakdown of case rates per 100,000 people. There are 170 out of 179 Connecticut communities at the highest level of risk for infection.

Power has been restored to thousands in Connecticut, but more than 30,000 are still waiting for crews to make repairs a week after Tropical Storm Isaias struck Fairfield County.
As of 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 11, 30,634 of Eversource’s 1,281,332 Connecticut customers were still waiting to have their power turned back on. An additional 174 United Illuminating customers were also dealing with outages.

An office manager in Fairfield County who grew up in and graduated from high school in Northern Westchester has died at age 52..
Carol L. Dreska, (nee Chiacchia) of Sherman, Connecticut, died Thursday, Aug. 15 at Lake Bomoseen, Vermont.
She was the office manager for Neves Electric in Brookfield.
Dreska was born on Feb. 27, 1967, in Mount Kisco, to the late Mario and Patsy Chiacchia. She grew up in Katonah and attended John Jay High School in Cross River.

Man Charged With Murder After Calling State Police To Report A Fall
A 65-year-old man has been charged with an alleged homicide after calling Connecticut State Police to report a person had fallen at his home.
James Maharg, 65, of Sherman, called state police Thursday, March, 21, to report a man who lived at the Church Road home in Sherman, had fallen and hit his head on a countertop, according to state police.
Arriving officers found the dead man inside the home and “due to several suspicious circumstances,” the Western District Crime Squad and the Danbury State’s Attorney office to respond to the scene, state police said.

Man Killed After Motorboat Capsizes In Candlewood Lake
A 48-year-old man was killed after he was dumped into Candlewood Lake in Brookfield when the 17-foot-boat he was in capsized.
Gary Hayes of East Hartford was killed around 12:30 p.m. Sunday, another man, Joseph Miranda, 29, of Manchester, survived, said Chris Collibee, spokesman for the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
According to Collibee, after the boat capsized, Miranda, swam to shore to safety. Hayes was located in the water by EnCon police officers who responded to the scene. He was transported to Danbury Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Storm Knocks Out Power To Thousands In Fairfield County
Thousands in Fairfield County have been left in the dark Thursday morning as thunderstorms rolled through the area.
More than 3,000 United Illuminating Company customers and 1,500 Eversource customers remained without power as of 9 a.m., with some Fairfield County municipalities taking the brunt of the storm.
In total, nearly 6,000 Connecticut residents reported outages overnight.
