Crash Causes I-84 Delays
This story has been updated. An off-the-road crash of a commercial truck caused heavy delays on a stretch of I-84 early Sunday evening, Oct. 20. The crash happened westbound east of Exit 61 (Route 311) in Putnam. Recovery was expected to take up to five hours, state police said. "Expect heavy delays," state police said. "Avoid the area if possible."

Crash Causes I-84 Closure
A stretch of I-84 was closed after a serious crash. The closure, during the tailend of the evening commute on Monday, Oct. 7, was westbound between Route 312 (Exit 19) and Route 311 (Exit 18) in Putnam, with stopped traffic at the scene and gridlock back to the Fairfield County line.

Tractor-Trailer Overturns On I-84
This story has been updated. The left lane on a stretch of I-84 reopened earlier than expected after a crash involving an overturned tractor-trailer on Thursday morning, Feb. 21. The westbound incident occurred in Putnam County at Route 311 (Exit 18). A heavy tow-truck wrecker arrived at the scene and removed the trailer at around 8 a.m. The lane had originally been expected to be closed until about 10 a.m., state police said. Crash Involving Overturned Tractor-Trailer, Car Causes I-84 Closure

The closure is eastbound in Putnam County near Exit 17 (Ludingtonville Road/Route 43) and is expected to last through the morning commute. As a detour, motorists should take Exit 17 to Route 52 to Route 311 then get back on eastbound I-84, state police said. There has been at least one potentially life-threatening injury.
