New Bear Sighting Reported: This One In Brewster Bears, bears, everywhere. Or so it seems. Around noon Friday Yorktown police warned of a bear up a tree which prompted Sonia Gelbart to post photos of another bear (or maybe the same, who knows?) she spotted in her Brewster backyard last week. Another reader said the Yorktown bear had climbed down its tree and was now by Jennifer's Restaurant near Route 118.  Wildlife officials said bears can travel great distances, but if an area is known to have food, they will tend to return to that area.
