A multi-car crash took out three utility poles and caused a massive car fire in Fairfield County, sending four to the hospital. First responders in Norwalk were dispatched to a reported motor vehicle fire on Connecticut Avenue after four cars were involved in a crash at approximately noon on Thursday, July 30. Norwalk Fire Chief Stephen Shay said that one car took out all three utility poles, and the high tension wires surrounded the car and it burst into flames. Protests Lead To More Road Closures In Fairfield County
This story has been updated. Roadways that were closed in Norwalk due to protests over police-involved incidents, including the George Floyd incident in Minneapolis, have now reopened. Family Of Four Escapes House Fire In Norwalk
A Norwalk family escaped injury when a fire started in the ceiling of their home Wednesday evening. The four, including two children, evacuated the home when they smelled smoke around 6:30 p.m. at 61 Rampart Road, and called 911, said the Norwalk Fire Department. The father then went back inside the home to attempt to put out the fire with a garden hose before firefighters arrived, but had to leave as the smoke charged the attic space and started to fill the house, the department reported.
