Major Brush Fire In NY Spreads Smoke Into Fairfield County A major brush fire over at least a dozen acres in the Hudson Valley produced smoke that spread across the New York border into Connecticut. The blaze broke out at around 12:05 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26 in Putnam County in the area of Route 301 and East Boyds Road in the town of Kent and was finally contained late in the day on Sunday, Oct. 27. A Putnam Valley man in his 50s was rescued in dangerous conditions after falling through the ice on his four-wheeled ATV on Lake Oscawana. The incident took place around 7:19 p.m. Wednesday, when deputies were responding to a report of a male screaming for help, possibly out on the ice in Lake Oscawana in Putnam Valley.
