Area Man Admits To Killing Bat Inside Cave
A Hudson Valley man has admitted to animal cruelty charges for killing a bat in a Putnam County cave, SPCA officials announced. Putnam County SPCA Chief Ken Ross said that Caleb Shuk, age 20, of Philipstown, has pleaded guilty to one count of animal cruelty following an incident in May last year that led to his arrest. Shuk was arrested on May 4, 2021, and charged with torturing a bat resting against a rock wall in the Sunken Mines Caves location in Putnam County. Missing Hudson Valley Boy Found
A 16-year-old boy who went missing in the Hudson Valley has been located. Putnam County resident James Thesing, of Philipstown, was reported missing by his family on Tuesday, June 22, according to an alert from the New York State Police. State Police announced Tuesday evening that he had been found. "James has been located in good health and returned to his family," state police said in a statement. Nearly two dozen local residents were among those busted by New York State Police troopers for alleged impaired driving in the area. Hudson Valley and Fairfield County residents charged include: Dutchess County On Friday, Dec. 13, State Police from Poughkeepsie arrested Omar Gomez Florentino, 21, of Pleasant Valley, for Aggravated DWI. Women Who Stole Credit Cards From Cars Made Purchases In Fairfield County
Two women are facing felony larceny charges following a string of larcenies in Putnam County in which authorities say stolen credits were used to make purchases in four neighboring counties. The larcenies occurred in the towns of Philipstown, Putnam Valley and Kent, Putnam County Sheriff, Robert L. Langley Jr. said. Man Charged With Choking Victim In Bed With Two Children, Police Say
A man is facing charges after police say he choked a victim who was in bed with two children in the area. New York State Police say they were dispatched to a Putnam County residence on Sprout Brook Road in the town of Philipstown on the report of a domestic dispute on Saturday, May 11. Further investigation revealed that 43-year-old Luis K. Urbina of Philipstown choked the victim, who had been in bed with two children at the time, police said. Motorists are being warned that skimming devices have been found at gas stations in the area.
