Former President Donald Trump has endorsed Leora Levy, a Republican candidate who is running for US Senate in Connecticut and has vowed to "beat back" Democratic Sen. Richard Blumenthal. Levy is running against Themis Klarides and Peter Lumaj in the Republican primary election, which is set for Tuesday, Aug. 9. Trump gave his endorsement on Thursday, Aug. 4. In a wild and crazy day, perhaps fittingly held at Foxwoods, Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton held off a strong challenge from former Trumbull First Selectman Tim Herbst and a strong showing from Stamford native Steve Obsitnik of Westport to win the Republican Party's Convention endorsement for governor at the casino in Mashantucket.
