Fairfield County Shop Fails Tobacco Compliance Check, Police Say
Authorities shared the results of tobacco compliance inspections at a group of Fairfield County businesses. Police conducted unannounced compliance inspections at New Canaan businesses that sell tobacco products and/or electronic cigarettes on Wednesday, Aug. 10, according to the New Canaan Police Department. The inspections were done in collaboration with the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services Tobacco Prevention and Enforcement Program, police said. A Connecticut customer cashed in a CT Lottery ticket worth two million dollars that was sold at an area gas station this week. On Monday, Aug. 16, an Avon resident cashed in a "Win Up To $10,000 A Month For Life 2nd Edition" ticket worth $2 million that was sold at the Mobil Mart on Washington Street in Hartford. Seen Them? Police Search For Suspects In ATM Theft
Police are looking for two men who stole an ATM machine from a gas station in the area on Monday. Police responded to the Mobil Mart station at 300 Bridgeport Ave. in Milford for a burglar alarm call around midnight Monday, said Milford Officer Joseph Dempsey. When officers arrived, they found the glass front door smashed and the ATM removed, Dempsey said.
