19: All Putnam County Schools Will Be Closed Under State Of Emergency Order
All schools in Putnam County will be closed next week after County Executive MaryEllen Odell issued a state of emergency order. The order, issued Friday, March 13, takes effect at 12 a.m. Monday, March 16. It lasts until Friday, March 27 at 11:59 p.m. All public and private schools will be closed for an initial period of Monday, March 16 through Friday, March 20 as part of the order. Exposure Sites Identified After Measles Case Confirmed In Putnam
A positive case of measles has been confirmed in Putnam and possible exposure sites have been identified. The county's Department of Health made the announcement on Monday, Oct. 1. "The patient has been isolated to avoid spreading the disease further," the department said in a statement. Measles is a serious, highly contagious disease that can be spread through the air by coughing or sneezing.
