CT Man Struck By Lightning As Severe Storms Roared Through Region A 34-year-old Connecticut man was struck by lightning as several severe thunderstorms ripped through the area. The incident occurred in New London County around 6:15 p.m., Wednesday, July 17, on Orchard Farms Road in Colchester. According to Colchester Fire Chief Steve Hoffmann, crews responded to the home and found the man "conscious and alert" but suffering from chest pains. Tolland County resident Sgt.1st Class Michael D. Clark, of the town of Bolton, died on Wednesday, July 20, at Fort Gordon, in Augusta, Georgia. Lightning Leads To Multiple Structure Fires In Fairfield Multiple fires broke out early Thursday night after storms with heavy downpours and lightning swept through the area. The Fairfield Emergency Communications Center received a call reporting a structure fire at 1300 Mill Hill Road in the Town of Fairfield at 6:38 p.m. Engines 1, 3, 4, 5, Ladder 2, Rescue 1, and Car 3 responded.
