Strong Winds Will Blow Through With Gusts Up To 50 MPH That Could Cause Power Outages A new round of scattered showers and thunderstorms will sweep through the area, but strong winds will be the story. A wind advisory starts at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, and stays in effect until 2 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 8 for most of the region. (Areas in brown in the map above.) In some parts of New England, a High Wind Warning has been issued. During that time, there will be gusts up to 50 miles per hour. As of just before 1:30 p.m. on Monday, April 13, 29,787 of Eversource’s 1,279,556 customers were without power, while the United Illuminating Company was reporting 27 outages impacting 783 of its 337,094 Connecticut customers. Here's Where The Most Power Outages Are In Fairfield County Tens of thousands of Connecticut residents remain in the dark after a Nor’easter rocked the region, bringing whipping winds, rain and downing trees and power lines in the area. As of 9:35 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17, 39,655 of Eversource’s 1,276,791 customers were reporting outages, while 2,356 of United Illuminating’s 335,465 customers were still left in the dark.
