Lane Closures Scheduled On I-84 Stretch In Region State officials issued an alert to motorists about upcoming lane closures on I-84 in the Hudson Valley. The New York State Department of Transportation said the lane closures will take place on stretches of the highway in Dutchess, Putnam, and Orange counties from Monday, Aug. 22, through Friday, Aug. 26, to facilitate bridge maintenance activities.  Officials said Orange County motorists should expect one lane to close on I-84 eastbound and westbound between Exit 4 (Mountain Road) in Greenville and Exit 39 (US Route 9W) in Newburgh. Woman Rescued, Dog Killed In I-84 Crash Between SUV, Fire Vehicle A woman had to be extricated after a serious crash involving an SUV and fire department vehicle resulted in the death of a dog. It happened in Orange County on Wednesday, May 27 at 4:30 p.m. in Greenville. A state police investigation revealed that a Town of Greenville fire police truck, a Ford F550, was parked in the passing lane of I-84 eastbound with emergency lighting activated.  The fire vehicle was blocking the lane for a motor vehicle crash that was approximately a half-mile ahead.  A full-size fire truck was parked a quarter-mile ahead of the fire vehicle in the pas…

Expect Delays: New Round Of I-84 Lane Closures Scheduled There will be temporary lane closures and brief traffic stoppages for several days on a stretch of I-84. The New York State Department of Transportation announced that there will be delays eastbound on the interstate between Exit 1 (US Route 1/NJ Route 23) and Exit 4 (NY Route 17) between 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. from Monday, July 8, through Friday, July 12. There will be westbound closures from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. between Exit 5 (NY Route 208) and Exit 4 (NY Route 17) during the same stretch, as contracting crews perform construction work in the area.
