Family Impacted By Stratford House Fire Getting A Helping Hand
The American Red Cross is assisting a Stratford family that is cleaning up the damage from a Wednesday afternoon house fire. Firefighters were dispatched to a Mary Avenue home at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon, where there were reports of a structure fire, officials said. The call came as crews were cleaning up from an earlier fire on Howard Street. Fire officials said that the initial investigation determined fire originated on a kitchen stove and quickly spread to several nearby appliances and cabinets. Fire Damages Home On Muirwood Court In Brookfield
BROOKFIELD, Conn. -- Firefighters quickly knocked down a fire on Muirwood Court in Brookfield on Thursday morning. The fire broke out around 10:30 a.m. and drew mutual aid from several surrounding departments, including the Danbury Fire Department, Stony Hill Volunteer Fire Company, Newtown Hook & Ladder, Hawleyville Volunteer Fire Company and the Water Witch Hose Co. 2 of New Milford. Moving Up: Danbury Fire Department Veteran Promoted To Captain
DANBURY, Conn. — Lt. Bart McCleary, a 30-year veteran member of the Danbury Fire Department, was promoted Monday to the rank of fire captain. Family members and co-workers along with representatives of many other city agencies, including Mayor Mark Boughton, gathered to in City Hall to congratulate him on his promotion. McCleary brings many years of experience as a firefighter and fire officer to his new position of captain. He will be starting his new chapter in his career this week on D shift.

Shed Destroyed By Fire In Frigid Weather In Danbury
DANBURY, Conn. — Danbury firefighters quickly extinguished a fully involved blaze in a shed near a home on Jackson Drive on Friday afternoon, the department said in a statement. A 911 call came in at about 12:50 p.m. Friday about the fire, said a statement from James Gagliardo, communications coordinator for the department. When firefighters arrived, they found the shed in flames but posing no threat to the nearby home at 12 Jackson Drive, Gagliardo said. Monroe Firefighters Battle House Blaze In Freezing Temperatures
MONROE, Conn. — Monroe volunteer firefighters were out on a frigid New Year's Day to battle a blaze in a home on Elm Street, according to a Facebook post. The fire was at 689 Elm Street, which was closed in the area while crews were working at about 2 p.m., according to the department. It was the fourth call of the day for crews, who battled an earlier chimney fire, according to the Facebook post. The Stepney Fire Department and Stevenson Volunteer Fire Company provided mutual aid, and White Hills Fire Company from Shelton responded as the RIT.
