19: CT Man Charged For Not Wearing Mask Entering Courthouse, State Police Say
A Connecticut man was arrested by state police for allegedly refusing to wear a face mask while inside a courthouse amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Pedro Borrero, age 36, of New Haven, was arrested on Friday, Jan. 15, when Connecticut State Police responded to the New Haven Superior Courthouse located at 121 Elm Street, in New Haven, for a complaint of a disturbance. Troopers received reports that Borrero entered the lobby and was not wearing a face mask as required by executive order. Violating a COVID-19 rule in Connecticut could now land someone a $10,000 fine. On Tuesday, Nov. 24, Gov. Ned Lamont announced he had signed an executive order increasing the amount a business can be fined for violations of the states’ COVID-19 sector rules and capacity limits to $10,000 per violation. The new fines go into effect on Thursday, Nov. 26, at 12:01 a.m. Right now, violating a COVID-19 rule in Connecticut is a $500 fine. A New York man has been charged with homicide after a dispute with a fellow patron at a restaurant/bar over not wearing a face mask. It's believed to be the first time such a dispute resulted in a fatality amid the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States. New Tappan Zee Bridge's Shared Bicycle-Pedestrian Path Will Open To Public
The new 3.6-mile shared bicycle-pedestrian path on the new Tappan Zee Bridge, with landings in Westchester and Rockland, will open to the public. The opening starts at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 15. The 12-foot wide shared-use path extends from its Westchester Landing (333 South Broadway) in the Village of Tarrytown, across one of the widest points of the Hudson River, to the Rockland Landing in the Village of South Nyack (1200 Route 9W).
