Tractor-Trailer Rollover Causes Hours-Long Lane Closure On I-84 Traffic is back up to speed on I-84 following an overnight tractor-trailer crash that closed the highway for hours. The crash took place around 10:25 p.m., Tuesday when a tractor-trailer lost control and overturned blocking the left-hand lane of I- 84 eastbound in Newburgh, said New York State Trooper AJ Hicks. An eastbound passenger vehicle, unable to avoid the wreckage, then struck the overturned tractor trailer. Both drivers received minor injuries, he added. Assisting on scene included Brewster firefighters and EMStar paramedics.

Lightning Strike Hospitalizes Three In Area A lightning strike on Lake Mahopac sent three people out boating to the hospital and slightly injured another. The incident took place around 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 4 when Putnam County Sheriff's Sgt. Matthew Monroe of the department's Marine Patrol Unit responded to a report of an occupied disabled boat on Lake Mahopac, the department said. During heavy rain and frequent lightning strikes Monroe was able to locate the disabled vessel, near the northwest corner of the lake.
