Congresswoman Elizabeth Esty’s non-disclosure agreement with a former aide grabbed headlines lately, but it’s not unique to Congress or even Connecticut state government, according to this report in Connecticut News Junkie. Rally Planned To Support New Fairfield Dad Facing Second Deportation Order
NEW FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Supporters are rallying to help a New Fairfield father of two who is facing a second order to return to his native Guatemala. A peaceful rally is planned for 11 a.m. Thursday at the Hartford federal building, 450 Main St. in hopes of getting a stay of deportation for Joel Colindres. Elizabeth Esty’s two bipartisan bills to combat human trafficking in America was signed into law Monday, marking the successful conclusion of an effort to establish tough new penalties for truckers and create a human trafficking prevention coordinator position at the U.S. Department of Transportation.
