'Mayday': Firefighters Forced Out Of Burning Southington House Before Beating Back Flames It was a harrowing moment for Connecticut firefighters when an early morning fire sent them scrambling to escape a burning home when conditions took a turn for the worse while they were inside, authorities said.  Firefighters were called to a house fire around 3:15 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 26 at 25 Howard Ave. in Southington. A light fixture in the basement had sparked and sent flames creeping through the home.
