A Connecticut man faces drunk driving charges after being involved in a head-on collision involving two cars in the Hudson Valley, according to authorities. The accident happened in Putnam County on Saturday, March 4, when police in Mahopac responded to the area of Union Valley Road and Shindagen Hill Road for a reported head-on crash. Supermarket Shoplifted 3 Times In 3 Days In Hudson Valley, Police Nab Danbury Man
Three different people who stole from a supermarket in the Hudson Valley in three days now face larceny charges, police said. The thefts happened at the Tops Supermarket in Putnam County located in Carmel at 1936 US Route 6, according to Carmel Police. The first two shoplifting incidents happened on Friday, March 3, when police responded to the store at two separate times at the request of loss prevention officials. Two people were hospitalized after a head-on crash near the entrance to a middle school in the area. It happened on Saturday, Nov. 30 at about 10 a.m. in Mahopac. Motorcyclist Rushed To Hospital After Crash Near Market In Mahopac
A motorcyclist was hospitalized after crashing near a grocery store in the area on Sunday morning, April 7. The crash occurred in the area in front of Red Mills Market on Route 6N in Mahopac Falls. Mahopac Falls Fire, EMS and Fire Police, along with multiple units from Carmel Police and Paramedics from EMStar, arrived within minutes of the dispatch, authorities said. Car Slams Into Storefront Of Area Pharmacy
A driver hit the gas instead of the brake and slammed into the front of the Rite Aid pharmacy in Mahopac, closing the business, according to Carmel Police. The incident took place around 9:15 a.m. Monday at the Mahopac Village Shopping Centre on Route 6 in Mahopac, police said. No one was injured, but the building was asked to close until it could be inspected for structural soundness, Carmel Police said. All all of the other businesses in the plaza remain open.

Heavy Smoke At Popular Area Restaurant Prompts Fire Department Response
This story has been updated. Heavy smoke at a popular Mahopac restaurant prompted a quick fire department response early Sunday morning, allowing the eatery to open as planned for Father's Day. Just before 4:30 a.m., the Mahopac Falls Fire Department and a unit from Carmel Police were dispatched to the Holy Smoke restaurant on Route 6N for a commercial fire alarm, according to Jack Casey of the MFFD. Truck Driver Treated At Danbury Hospital After Rollover Crash In Mahopac
The driver of a dump truck was hospitalized after a rollover crash that brought down a pole and power lines in Mahopac on Wednesday. The still-energized 13,000-volt wires above the wreck on Long Pond Road near Pleasant Road prevented first-responders from approaching or removing the loan driver from the truck, said Tom Beatty of the Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department. Ambulance Slides Off Road With Patient Onboard In Putnam
An ambulance crash has been cleared in Putnam County, according to Carmel Police. The ambulance, carrying a patient, slid off the icy roadway around 7:23 a.m. Friday at 211 Drewville Road, police said. There was no word of additional injuries. The roadway is open and moving, police said.
