Traffic will be reduced to only one lane on Eighth Avenue adjacent to the downtown campus of the university on that day as students and parents will be using the road to unload belongings and move into the dorms.
The university also warns the White Street pedestrian crossing also will be used heavily by students and parents moving belongings into the residence halls.
Traffic may be further impacted by the school's Entering the Gates Ceremony at 1:30 p.m. The ceremony involves students, staff and alumni and is a tradition that signifies the start of a new school year at WestConn.
Students also will participate in a series of events, including a campus-wide scavenger hunt and a Clubs Carnival that will acquaint students with the various clubs and organizations on campus.
The first official day of classes will be Wednesday, Aug. 28, so the area is expected to again be congested with students parking in the Midtown campus garages.
Additional information on the Entering the Gates Ceremony or any of the week's activities during WestConn's Welcome Week can be found on the school's website.
