Danbury Students Honored For Top Women’s History Month Essays

DANBURY, Conn. --  State Sen. Michael McLachlan, R-Danbury along with Union Savings Bank presented National Women’s History Month Essay Contest Awards to area students in a Mar. 29 ceremony at Danbury City Hall.

Students from public and parochial elementary schools in the greater Danbury area participated in the contest by submitting an essay about a woman of influence. 

“This essay contest brings area schools, students, teachers and parents together in a collaborative effort which encourages children to research and write about influential and inspiring Connecticut women," Sen. McLachlan said.

The essay contest winners are:

  • Alyssa Ferrucci (St. Joseph School, Danbury)
  • Bianca Champion (Broadview Middle School, Danbury)
  • Joseph Falcao (St. Gregory the Great School, Danbury)
  • Amisha Malkani (Bethel Middle School)
  • Jacqueline Malanga (New Fairfield Middle School)
  • Pedro Reis (St. Peter School, Danbury)
