DANBURY, Conn. -- Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton announced on his blog on Tuesday that the city is planning the construction of a skate park and a dog park, both set to open in 2014.

Mayor Mark Boughton announced the parcel of land across from the parking garage on Patriot Drive will be developed into a skate park.

The Skate Park will be located across from the parking garage on Patriot Drive. Though  the park is still in the planning stages, Boughton said he expects it to be open sometime in the spring of 2014.

The dog park will be located on a parcel of land at the end of the runway near the Danbury Airport. The city acquired the land with a federal grant from a local family several years ago in order to clear trees adjacent to the runway.

Danbury has received approval from FAA to build the dog park in that location and has engineers working on a design and the project should be ready by the summer of 2014, according to Boughton.
