DANBURY, Conn. — Incumbent Republican Michael McLachlan will continue to represent Danbury, Bethel, New Fairfield and Sherman in the state's 24th Senate District, defeating Jason Bartlett in Tuesday's voting, according to The Hartford Courant.
In Danbury, Bartlett was the top vote-getter, with 12,618 votes to McLachlan's 11,740 votes.
McLachlan, a Danbury resident, was seeking his third term as a state senator. He is a ranking member of the General Assembly’s Government Administration and Elections Committee and also sits on Judiciary, Legislative Management, and Transportation committees. McLachlan previously served as chief of staff for Mayor Mark Boughton. Before his role in government, McLachlan was vice president of First Union National Bank. McLachlan also appeared on the ballot under the Independent Party.
Bartlett, a Bethel resident, is a general agent with Ohio National Insurance. He also owned First Capital Corp. and a restaurant. Bartlett also appeared on the ballot under the Working Families Party.
