Dr. William Petit Reportedly Weighing Challenge Of Esty For Congress

DANBURY, Conn. -- Dr. William Petit of Cheshire says he is "50-50" on whether he will run against U.S. Rep. Elizabeth Esty for Connecticut's 5th U.S. Congressional District, according to The Hartford Courant.

Petit was the lone survivor of a horrific 2007 home invasion in which his wife and two daughters were murdered.

Esty, a Democrat, currently represents the district, which is in the northwestern part of the state. It runs from Meriden and New Britain in central Connecticut, westward to Danbury and includes the Farmington Valley, the Naugatuck River Valley and the Litchfield Hills.
