Ridgefield Teen Charged With Drunken Driving In Danbury

DANBURY, Conn. -- After a one-car accident on West Starrs Plain Road, a Ridgefield teen was charged with driving under the influence on Sunday, Danbury police said.

According to the police report, the driver of the car involved in the accident, Colby Collier, 19, struck a tree. When police arrived, officers report smelling alcohol, the report said. 

Collier failed field sobriety tests, police said. While he was being charging, officers found a small bag of marijuana on him, police said.

Collier was charged with failure to drive in the proper lane, failure to have proof of insurance, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs while under the age of 21, and possession of marijuana under a half-ounce. 

He was released on $1,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court at on July 12.
