A wanted man involved in a high-speed chase was found with guns and drugs after state police say they used tire spikes to stop him.

Connecticut State Police troopers attempted to stop New Fairfield resident Edward Lasch, 32, in his Pontiac Grand Am shortly after 12:30 a.m. on Friday morning on Newtown Road in Danbury.

Police said that Lasch, a convicted felon, refused to stop, leading to a police pursuit, which came to a quick conclusion when troopers used stop sticks to disable the car on Brinsmade Lane in Sherman. Lasch went on to resist arrest, and troopers were forced to use a taser to subdue him.

While searching Lasch’s car, police found multiple firearms, drugs and drug paraphernalia. It was also determined that he has an active warrant out for his arrest in Torrington for failing to appear in court on criminal mischief charges.

Lasch was arrested and charged with:

  • Criminal possession of a firearm as a felon;
  • Possession of a loaded rifle in a vehicle;
  • Four counts of possessing a weapon in a motor vehicle;
  • Carrying a firearm under the influence;
  • Assault on public safety;
  • Possession of narcotics;
  • Reckless endangerment;
  • Possession of less than a half ounce of marijuana;
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia;
  • Possession of narcotics with intent to sell;
  • Engaging police in a pursuit;
  • Illegal operation of a motor vehicle;
  • Reckless driving, misuse of license plates, criminal mischief and speeding.

Following his arrest, Lasch is scheduled to be sported to Danbury Superior Court for arraignment.
