The customer told police a man grabbed his arm as he was getting in his vehicle, claimed to have a gun, and demanded all his money, Detective Lt. Tom Michael said.

The customer was able to drive away unharmed, but the suspect, later identified as Raul Cedillos, of Bridgeport, then went into the station and is accused of punching the station attendant in the head, Michael said. He also smashed a wood stool. Cedillos fled the scene and was found by police at a Shell gas station on Newtown Road, police said.

The attendant sustained bruises to his head and complained of dizziness, but refused medical attention, police said.

Cedillos was charged with third-degree assault, second-degree threatening, criminal mischief, possession of marijuana less than a half ounce, third-degree attempt to commit robbery and breach of peace, Michael said. Cedillos was held on a $50,000 bond.
