Her attorney said during opening statements of her trial that Mooney, who is charged with three counts of second degree sexual assault for having sex with a 17-year-old student in her class, said she should have known better to than to make friends with a student, said WLAD.com.

State’s Attorney Stephen Sedensky cast a different light on the relationship during his opening statement, saying it began as friendship that turned sexual and evidence would show Mooney is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, added WLAD.com.
