Danbury Rallies To Help As Police K-9 Koda Retires Due To Brain Tumor

DANBURY, Conn. — Danbury Police K-9 Koda has retired due to a brain tumor, and the department is looking for the community's help to pay for costs of his treatment.

A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to raise funds for his treatment, which will be very expensive. The campaign initially asked for $9,000, but treatment is expected to cost at least $12,000.

"He has saved lives and risked his life every day for almost a decade," the department wrote on the GoFundMe page.

This week, the Newtown Police Department announced that its K-9 Saint Michael had also been diagnosed with cancer, and set up a GoFundMe to help pay for cost of his treatment.
