Danbury Police Sergeant Takes The Time To Make A Difference

DANBURY, Conn. -- Members of the Danbury Police Department recently went the extra mile to help bring a little joy into the life of a young man dealing with a personal tragedy.

Young Brandon Shafer lost his father on June 20. During his difficult time, Sgt. Matthew Casazza of the Danbury Police Department came to know Brandon, and discovered that he and his father both shared a love of the New York Mets. A trip was organized on Aug. 5 to bring Brandon to Citi Field to see his beloved Mets. It was a great start to some new friendships and memories.

"Nothing can replace the loss of a parent at such a young age," Danbury police said. "Our officers hope to put, and keep, a smile on this young man's face."

"Thanks to Lynn Cohen, the New York Mets, SNY, Dick's Sporting Goods and Michael's Limousine of Greenwich for their very generous support. Brandon had a fantastic time, and we couldn't have done it without you. A special thanks to Sgt. Casazza for taking the time to make a difference."
