DANBURY, Conn. -- Danbury police detectives have joined the search for a suspect in the Wednesday morning gasoline fire at 3 Whitlock St.
No injuries were reported in the 4:45 a.m. blaze, but a half dozen people were in the three-family home at the time and had to evacuate.
In a statement, Danbury Detective Lt. Tom Michael said the fire has been ruled a case of first-degree arson, which is a Class A felony, because the fire was deliberately set in an occupied building.
Detectives will work Danbury fire marshals on the case.
Danbury Assistant Fire Chief Charly Slagle said the fire was started by someone who poured gasoline in a common hallway of the home and lit a match.
Much of the fire had burned itself out by the time firefighters arrived.
