On Wednesday, Danbury officials announced that all public works and public safety agencies are fully staffed and working on cleanup efforts, though many downed trees and wires cannot be cut until Eversource ensures that the scene is safe.

Tuesday’s storm brought heavy rain and winds that reached upwards of 65 mph, causing havoc in the area and causing countless road closures. Police noted that all local residents should stay clear of any downed wires and they should all be treated as live.

As of 12:30 p.m., 82,935 of Eversource’s 1,270,056 customers in Connecticut remain without power.

A comfort station has also been arranged at the Danbury Library on Main Street and West Street, which opened early at 11:30 a.m. for anyone in the city that is in need of charing their electronic devices.
