The resident held the man, later identified as Julio Vazquez, 35, of Danbury, until the police arrived, Detective Lt. Tom Michael said.

The resident told police he saw a brown Ford Explorer parked outside his house when he saw a man opening car doors, police said. The resident found the suspect trying to start his brother’s car, which was parked in the driveway, and then held onto him and yelled for another neighbor to call the police, Michael said.

Police found a stolen wallet and the keys to the Ford Explorer, which was reported stolen earlier that day, in Vazquez’s possession.

Vazquez was charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree larceny and sixth-degree larceny, Michael said. Vazquez was held on a $10,000 bond and a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer, Michael said.
