Alexander Bergen, 22, who is already looking at 10 years behind bars and a hefty fine, has now been accused of trying to bribe one of his victims so she wouldn’t testify and could be facing new charges, the Danbury News-Times reported.

The former Bethel man stole from people who had invested in his Danbury-based online electronic equipment business and used his ill-gotten gains for fancy trips and expensive shopping sprees, the Danbury News-Times article said.

Prosecutors are asking that Bergen spend at least two years behind bars as a warning to other entrepreneurial predators, but his attorney is arguing against jail time, saying Bergen’s actions were a result of his youth, a rough home life, and a speech impediment, the Danbury News-Times said.
