The case began at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday when officers were dispatched to 5 Scuppo Road, Samuels Court, on a complaint of an intoxicated man in Unit 208 pounding on the floor, police said.
Officers had dealt with the same resident — identified as Gary Mayone — a couple of hours earlier at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, police said. At that time, Mayone was issued an infraction for creating a public disturbance, police said.
When officers arrived to speak with the complainant, they heard several loud bangs coming from Mayone's apartment, police said.
Mayone was taken into custody, police said. As he was being walked back to the patrol cruiser, he attempted to head-butt an officer and struggled with officers, police said.
While being processed at police headquarters, he kicked another officer in the leg, police said. Then Mayone said he should "get an assault rifle and shoot up the Danbury Police Department," police said in a statement.
Mayone had also kicked another police officer while he was being evaluated at Danbury Hospital, police said.
Mayone was charged with breach of peace, two counts of interfering, criminal attempt assault on police officer, two counts of assault on police officer, act of terrorism and failure to be fingerprinted. He was held at on $50,000 bond.
