Thomas Corbett, 67, Danbury Native

DANBURY, Conn. – Thomas M. Corbett, a Danbury native, died Nov. 16 at his home in New Fairfield, Conn. He was 67.

He was born July 19, 1945, in Danbury to the late John J. and Margaret Moran Corbett. He graduated from Danbury High School and received a bachelor's degree in business as a member of the first graduating class of Sacred Heart University in 1967.

Corbett was married to Margaret "Peggy" Zanzal Corbett, who survives him. He was director of operations for the New Milford Public Schools for 37 years before retiring five years ago. He then served as a New Fairfield Third Selectman for two years.

A resident of New Fairfield for 36 years, Corbett was a parishioner of St. Edward the Confessor Church and a 26-year volunteer with the American Red Cross as a disaster relief coordinator.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Patrick F. Corbett, of Stamford, and Brendan M. Corbett, of Virginia; two sisters-in-law, Jeanne Corbett, of California, and Susan Jones, of West Haven, Conn.; a brother-in-law, John Zanzal, of New Fairfield; a granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, John Corbett.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Wednesday at St. Edward the Confessor Church. Green Funeral Home in Danbury handled arrangements.
