Richard 'Dick' Hanna, 82, Former Danbury Attorney

DANBURY, Conn. – Richard "Dick" Whitman Hanna, a former longtime Danbury resident, died Feb. 4 at his home in Lockwood Lodge, Newtown. He was 82.

Born in Bethel, he was the son of William and Elaine Whitman Hanna. He served in the Air Force and received a bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctorate from the University of Connecticut.

Hanna was a partner at Wanderer, Hanna and Talarico law firm in Danbury before retiring in 2004. He was a former member of the Ridgewood Country Club in Danbury and Danbury Club.

He was also a board member of the Neustadt Collection of Tiffany Glass in New York City and former board member of the Union Savings Bank in Danbury. A lover of animals, he was also a contributor to environmental conservation.

Hanna is survived by two daughters: Susan Hanna Poitras, of Danbury, and Katherine Hanna White, of Norcross, Ga.; a son, W. Richard "Rick" Hanna, of Chatsworth, Calif.; a sister, Barbara "Bobbie" Stiles, of Bridgeport; his friend, Priscilla Bromley, of Monroe, Conn.; and three granddaughters.

A private memorial service will be held. Green Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
