Loretta Keane, 84, Of Danbury, Waitress

DANBURY, Conn. - Loretta “Tinker” Keane of Danbury died Saturday, June 29. She was 84.

Keane was born Oct. 26, 1928, in Danbury, daughter of Mortimer and Grace (Adams) Wood. She attended Danbury schools and Danbury High School. For over 50 years, she was employed in the food service business as a waitress with the late Fred Najamy at the former American Legion of Danbury, the Danbury Fair and at private catered events. She worked with her mother as housekeepers and cooks at St. Peter Rectory, Danbury. She was a member of St. Peter Parish, Danbury.

Keane is survived by son, Kevin M. Keane (Nancy) of Danbury; five grandchildren; a “second son” William Mongillo (Joanne) of Brookfield; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Thomas V. Keane; daughter, Karlene M. Borer; brother, Donald Wood; and sister, Theresa Melillo.

Calling hours are Tuesday, July 2 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury. Graveside funeral services and burial will take place Wednesday, July 3 at 11:45 a.m. in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
