McNamara was born Nov. 7, 1951, son of Joseph and Ruth Pendergast McNamara of Danbury. Husband of Martha Moulton McNamara. He graduated from St Peter's School and Christ the King Preparatory Seminary. He received his Bachelor's degree from Fairfield University and his Master's degree in History from the University of Connecticut. He taught social studies at Lincoln Hall in Lincolndale New York for many years.
McNamara is survived by his sister, Maura McNamara and her partner David Harrison of Boulder Creek, Calif.; sister-in-law, Micheline McNamara; a niece; many aunts, uncles; and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; and brother, Raymond McNamara.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29 at St. Peter Church in Danbury.
