NORTHERN FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- With overnight low temperatures near freezing expected, a frost advisory was issued late Tuesday for northern Fairfield County, the National Weather Service said.

The frost advisory is in effect from 2 to 8 a.m. Wednesday, the weather service said. The advisory was for interior portions of southern Connecticut.

Ground temperatures near freezing and overnight lows in the mid-30 were predicted, the weather service said. The coldest temperatures were expected between 4 and 6 a.m.

Unprotected and sensitive vegetation could be harmed or killed if left uncovered, the weather service said. Residents were advised to cover or bring plants indoors.

The overnight chill will be warmed Wednesday, with sunny skies and high temperatures in the mid-60s expected, the weather service said.
