FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — It was a busy week for news in Fairfield County, with a near-drowning at a large sports facility, a deadly drug overdose at a fast-food eatery and a fatal plane crash near the Danbury Airport.

In case you missed it, here are some of the most-read stories of the past week in the Daily Voice:

Larry “Love” Tinsley, a 62-year-old homeless man, was charged in the gruesome murder of a Bridgeport man who was shot and then set on fire inside a stolen SUV in June. He is accused of pouring gas on the dead man's body.

A man in his 20s was found dead of a drug overdose in the bathroom of a Burger King on Boston Avenue in Bridgeport.

Yoriko McClure of Bridgewater was so thrilled with the outcome of her coronary bypass surgery at Danbury Hospital that she is making a donation of $3 million to transform its cardiac operating room into a multi-functional cardiovascular surgical suite.

It could have been a scene straight out of "Baby Driver" as Brittany McDow, 27, led Stamford police on a chase , crashing into several parked cars as well as police cruisers along the way, police said.

Amy Barnouw of Fairfield is on a mission. Driven by a desire to provide healthier beverages for her three kids, Barnouw and her husband launched Planet Fuel Beverage Company with a line of organic, lower-sugar juices.

Two childhood friends opened a unique new dessert place called Drop & Fry in Stamford . Their specialty gives a hot and cold taste sensation: They batter-dip-and-fry pound cake-coated balls of ice cream.

A new restaurant dubbed J. Lawrence Downtown has opened in Bethel in the historic opera house building. It's place where friends, family, and community come together in a relaxed, casual atmosphere.

When architect George Perham headed out to his latest project, he didn’t need a map. Forty-seven years after his 1970 graduation , Perham was headed back to Stratford High School to see the $125-million renovation on his alma mater come to life.
