Man And Woman Charged With Stealing A Car In Danbury

DANBURY, Conn. - While on patrol Saturday night, Danbury officers saw a car on Newtown Road that had been reported stolen on Friday and charged two with the theft.

Police report that they saw the purple Dodge Charger being driven on Newtown Road before stopping it at the intersection of Woodside Avenue and Newtown Road. According to the report, both the male driver and female passenger fled the car after being told to stop.

A short foot chase took place before police were able to take both into custody.

Police charged Shawn Gartland,  43 of Danbury, with larceny in the third degree and interfering with the duties of an officer.  The passenger, Leslie O'Neill, 30, of Bethel, was also charged with larceny in the third degree and interfering with the duties of an officer. 

Both were held on a $10,000 bond by police.
