Hillary Clinton Book Signing, Murder Arrests Top Week's News In Danbury

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — Hillary Clinton announced plans to hold a signing for her new book at Costco in Brookfield, while arrests were made in the murder of a teenager in Danbury. Also, two men from Fairfield died in a boating accident. And charges were lodged in two deaths in Bridgeport.

Here are the top stories of the past week in Fairfield County, as reported by the Daily Voice.

Two more juveniles — a teenage girl and a teenage boy — have been charged in connection with the murder of Gabriel Bara-Bardo, 18, last month in Danbury, police said. The two are facing robbery and larceny charges. Ronald Massagli, 15, and Lorenzo Santana, 16, have been charged with felony murder in the death of Bara-Bardo, who died of blunt impact to the head.

The two Fairfield men — Michael Murphy, 53, and Scott Trautman, 46 — were killed in a boating accident on Long Island Sound. Murphy’s 32-foot power boat struck a breakwall near New Haven Harbor, ejecting both men from the vessel. 

Richard Evans, 37, of Bridgeport, was charged with murder in the shooting death of Reginald May, 44, whom he lured from his Alice Street apartment by setting off a car alarm, police said. Evans shot May from a neighboring yard, police said.  

The IMAX Theater at the Maritime Aquarium will fall victim to the replacement for the Walk Bridge that carries the Metro-North train tracks over the Norwalk River, the state Department of Transportation. The DOT will not acquire the whole aquarium, but some exhibits may need to be relocated for the project.

Anthony Reeves, 34, of Bridgeport, was charged with murder in the death of Jason Nieves in June, police said. Reeves shot Nieves twice and left him dead in a car, then returned hours later with an accomplice and set the car on fire, police said. The two men were partners in a drug operation, police said.

Dan Falls, a New Milford resident who owned a business in Brookfield, died six weeks after he was gravely injured in a motorcycle crash in Monroe. A Hyundai Sonata crossed the center line on Route 25 and hit the motorcycle head-on in July, police said. His wife, Betty, remains hospitalized.

David Eric Wellin, a 68-year-old orthopedic surgeon from Danbury, was hit and killed by a car on Route 6 in Southeast, N.Y., while he was riding a bike, police said.
