Hearing Delayed For Danbury Teacher Charged With Sex Assault Of Student

DANBURY, Conn. – The case of a 24-year-old female teacher facing charges in connection with an improper relationship with a 17-year-old male student was continued when she appeared Monday in Danbury Superior Court, according to the News-Times.

Kayla Mooney, a science teacher on leave from Danbury High School, was scheduled to be arraigned Monday on a charge of second-degree sexual assault and providing alcohol to a minor, the News-Times said.

But her lawyer said he had not received evidence requested from the prosecutor and asked for a delay in Mooney's arraignment, the report said.

Mooney, who did not enter a plea, was placed on leave in February and arrested in March.
