DANBURY, CONN. -- A jury found former Danbury police officer Christopher Belair not guilty Thursday of assault and threat charges that followed a March 2013 traffic stop of an undocumented immigrant, according to the Connecticut Post.
Belair, 35, of Waterbury, had been charged with third-degree assault and second-degree threatening after a state police investigation.
It all started when Rene Chalco told internal affairs officers Belair punched him and verbally abused him, the Connecticut Post said.
After his acquittal, Belair said he was grateful but admitted his treatment of Chalco was unprofessional, the story said.
