Middletown resident Frank Recchia was last seen on Thursday, Oct. 3 on surveillance video walking in New Haven. He’s also been spotted in Durham and Hamden, though it has been weeks since anyone has reported any sightings.

His daughter, Bunny Rodriguez, said in a news conference in Bridgeport this week that she “hopes he’s with a family that took him in. I hope he didn’t get any farther than New Haven.”

Recchia was last seen wearing a blue shirt, blue jeans and has rectangular eyeglasses. He is approximately 5-foot-11 and weighs about 150 pounds.

A Silver Alert was issued for him Monday, Oct. 7 by the Middletown Police Department, which says it has no new leads and lacks the resources to continue a full-scale search.

"Today we searched in the rain," Rodriguez said. "Today I am happy for the support and for people with me so I do not have to do this alone. These are the moments to take in and remember that we are doing our very best to come together as humans to search and share this journey."

The family is planning to hold a press conference in New Haven on Friday, Nov. 1 to provide an update about "new assistance (they) are about to receive" in the search for Recchia.

"Frank Recchia has shown us support for years, and now he needs ours," the Bridgeport Police Department posted on Facebook. "Today, a press conference was held to inform the public that his brother, Peter, is still missing. It has now been (six) weeks. Please take a moment to check the links below and do whatever you can to help. #MissingPerson #PeterRecchia #FrankRecchia #BunnyRodriguez."

"My dad would have bought on his fixed income presents for the grandchildren and had them wrapped already. I am super appreciative this morning looking at the books and small things he would share with them," his daughter said.

"He would go on long walks to find second-hand books that had really creative stories or he would find something special at Amato’s toy store. He was super particular about what he would get and made sure he had a good story to tell with it."

Anyone who believes they may have seen Recchia, or has information on his whereabouts has been asked to contact Det. Jimmy Lacasse at the Middletown Police Department by calling (860) 638-4134.
