FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – In honor of Flag Day, residents will able to retire their old or worn American flags at two locations in Danbury from June 1 to June 13 at Danbury City Hall or the Danbury War Memorial.
State Reps. Janice Giegler (Danbury, New Fairfield and Ridgefield), Dan Carter (Bethel, Danbury, Newtown and Redding), Richard A. Smith (New Fairfield, Sherman, New Milford and Danbury) and Stephen Harding (Brookfield, Bethel and Danbury), in cooperation with the Danbury Council of Veterans and Catholic War Veterans Post #1042, are hosting the event.
The U.S. Flag Code specifies that old or worn American flags no longer in service must be properly disposed of. Residents are encouraged to drop worn flags in the collection boxes at Danbury City Hall, 155 Deer Hill Ave. and at the Danbury War Memorial, 1 Memorial Drive.
The event is available to anyone in the greater Danbury area.
