Mayor Mark Boughton led the Remembrance Ceremony as a small crowd gathered on the Main Street, which was closed to traffic for the memorial event on the 16th anniversary of the attacks.
And as part of the tradition, the daughters of a local man who died in the attacks took part in the ceremony.
Robyn Higley, 15, led the crowd in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. And her sister Amanda Higley, 20, sang "God Bless America."
Boughton read a list of all the Danbury area residents who died in the attacks, including the girls' father, Rob Higley.
Toure´ Richardson, a music student at Western Connecticut State University, sang the National Anthem. And the Danbury Police Department' and the Danbury Council of Veterans served as honor guards.
